can someone find the old threads on this topic Id like to read up.

Can you not take gambling wins and instead say its a self business so you can write off the things like your office, your call phone, your internet and cable TV, your health insurace, etc. etc. etc..

at least see which gets you the best tax return?

I think you can but you would have to file as a professional gambler, then file a Schedule C as any Sole Prop would.
